I am chainsaw carver/sculptor with a particular fascination and skill set carving animal figures, particularly those found here in our very own beautiful woodlands in the UK.
My fascination for woodwork and ‘all things nature’ began from a very early age, often watching and being inspired by my grandfather who would build or fix all sorts of things in his makeshift workshop in the garden.
About me
As with most people, it can take some time before realising what you would really like to do for a living, generally because it is so easy to get pulled into a job role that simply but very importantly pays the bills and provides for your family. For me (and I’m now in my 40’s) I have only recently realised that my hobby of carving, is what I would like to do on a full time basis.
Time almost stands still when I carve and I forget about the day to day stresses of life, becoming fully immersed in the piece I’m working on. So for me, this is definitely my happy place and knew that I needed to pursue this further not just as a hobby but as a career. I haven’t yet been able to call it my full time profession, but I am taking on regular commissions, which I am fortunate enough to be able to fit in around my day to day work/family life.
